How to Transcribe a YouTube Video into Text 

 

 

In this article, I'm going to show you how to translate a YouTube video into text. It could be a video you want to transcribe from the audio to have the lyrics of the song if that's a video, or you just want to get a text version of the video.

If you read this article to the end, I'm going to show you  four simple methods that will help you to transcribe your video very quickly without going through any difficult process.

Open/show Transcript: 

Method one is to use the "open transcript" option. Go to the three dots beside the save option near your YouTube video, or just directly on the subscribe button, and click on "show transcript or open transcript."

It will open the transcript and go back to the pattern, copy the whole script, and copy the whole text till the end.By just clicking and highlighting the whole effect, right-click and click on copy, open a new notepad or wordpad window, and press ctrl v to paste the text there. Now you have all the text from that video, and you can do whatever you want with this text.

Otter :

Method two is to use a website I call Otter.ai. At first, we will enter this website, otter.ai. So when you enter this website, you have to create an account. It's very simple: input your email address, then your name, and create an address.

So after creating an account, you will see the option "record" and another option, "import."You have to click on "import" and browse files. Suppose I want to convert some files into text. So here it is, and you have to wait for like one or two minutes. and when you see import success, then you go to the transcript. so it will show you that your conversation is processing. 

Would you like to be notified when it's ready? That means when it will be ready, so the transcription is ready.

So we want to get it or export it. So I'm clicking on the three dots, and after that, I'm exporting, and I don't want to hear speaker name, so I'm cancelling speaker name. I also don't want to have a time stamp, so I'm cancelling that.

and I don't want any merging; that's why I'm also clicking the merge option, and I'll export it as text. Now I'll copy it.copy to the clipboard, and after that, I will click on export.On this website, only three imports are available, so if you want unlimited imports, you can sign up for different accounts. Method three is to use a website I call DownSub. DownSub is a website that helps you convert your video to text without any struggle.

You just click on the share button of the YouTube video, copy the text, and go to the down.sub.com website.In downsub.com and click on ctrl v to paste the text there and hit the enter button (the download button on the screen) with your keypad and wait for some time, it's going to generate the text into text format and other formats; all you have to do is download. 

It's in spreadsheet and text format, so you just hit on the text format in the case of a spreadsheet, and it's going to download the text into a notepad. Now you have all the text here ready to do the job; great! You have all the text, and you can as well go ahead and use it and do what you need to do. 

In the fourth method, I'll demonstrate how you can automatically transcribe for nothing and without any restrictions. You are not required to pay anything to have as many audio or video files transcribed as you want. Therefore, what you will need is a free VB audio virtual cable, which I will demonstrate how to download and install for you. Additionally, you must have Google Docs. Once more, Google Docs is entirely free; all you need is a Google or Gmail account, which you can open for nothing.

Downloading this audio virtual wire is therefore the first thing you need to do. then select audio applications. As a result, VB cable essentially acts as a virtual audio cable by simply forwarding any audio that enters the cable input to the cable output. This means that we can use Google Docs' dictate tool to have our files automatically transcribed.

We only need to press play and wait when using this virtual audio wire because Google will be directly listening to the audio file we're playing and transcribing it. This makes the process really simple. Therefore, download the VB cable driver for Windows or Mac.

Find the location on your computer where the file was installed, and then select "Extract files" from the menu that appears when you right-click the file. Afterward, click OK. Therefore, that will extract every file in a folder. I'll therefore double-click the folder to find the one you need to install. In order to install the driver, you must run as administrator when you right-click the file and choose "Run as Administrator." If you don't, the installation will fail.
